This makes Tenerife North only the second airport in Spain, after Madrid Barajas, to offer direct flights to Florida.

As reported in a recent article in Tenerife News, ticket sales for the new direct flights between Tenerife and Miami, Florida are going very well. “The direct flight linking Tenerife with Miami from June 20 has caused such interest that 70% of the plane has already been booked in its first month of ticket sales.

With such initial success Air Europa is thinking of extending the duration of the route until April 21, 2010 rather than October this year, a decision that will be made at the end of July depending on its success, and possibly two flights a week will be made available.”

This will make Tenerife accessible now to the US travel market and having spoken to several American visitors over the years, I believe this will become a very popular destination for a relaxing vacation when the word gets out.
